Methodist Shona Hymn 158

Mwari ndiye tsvingo yedu,
Ndiye simba redu iye;
Pakumanikidzwa kose,
Ruyamuro rwechokwadi,

Nyange nyika yosandurwa,
Nyange makomo okandwa
Mugungwa rakadzikisa,
Hatimbotya, tinovimba.

Nyangwe gungwa roriridza,
Richimedza namafuro;
Mweya unovimba naye,
Unogonzwa runyararo.

Pane rwizi rwakanaka
Rwofadza guta raMwari;
Upenyu, rudo, rufaro,
zvinoyerera mariri.

Mwari agere mariri,
Haringambozunungutswa;
Rinozobatsirwa naye,
Rinunurwe pakarepo.

Ndiye Jehovha wesimba,
Ndiye Mwari ano rudo,
Ndi Mwari agere nesu;
Mwari ndiye tsvingo yedu.

  1. I love this song .It makes me tearful and it makes me closer to my mother Mrs Netty Mano who died in Harare Zimbabwe in the Month of Nov. This song uplifts my spirit each time I hear it being played or being sung.I used to sing this hymn with my mum each time I met her.Thanks for publishing this song on this column .

  2. This was my grandmother’s favorite song. She had a stroke, so she couldn’t speak. But when it came time to sing this song she would sing it with all her heart, and God’s love would flow through her

  4. Very true Mweya unovimba naye unogonzwa runyararo. My mother’s song. May her soul continue to rest in power. I know she is still singing it with the angels in heaven.

  5. I feel very uplifted by this song
    God is my refuge and my strength in times of trouble. I will not fear for he can move mountains and calm all storms.
